About Chaitanya Hospital

Supporting a safe, calm normal birth in Kadapa

A normal delivery, also called a vaginal delivery, is when your baby is born through the birth canal after labour begins on its own or is started with medical help. For many women with a healthy, uncomplicated pregnancy it is a good option, and recovery can be quicker than after surgery, so you may be up and caring for your baby sooner.

Chaitanya Hospital in Simhapuri Colony, Kadapa, is a dedicated obstetrics and gynecology centre. Our obstetricians perform both normal and C-section deliveries in well-equipped labor rooms, and delivery and emergency care are available 24/7. That matters when labour begins at night: you do not have to wait for morning to reach a team.

Planning starts well before labour. Regular antenatal check-ups let your doctor follow your baby’s growth and position and spot anything that might change the plan. If your pregnancy needs closer attention, our high-risk pregnancy care works alongside normal delivery planning. You can read about all of this under normal and C-section deliveries.

What to expect

What a normal delivery generally involves

  1. 01

    Early labour

Contractions start, often irregular and mild at first, and the cervix begins to open. This phase can last hours. Call us if you are unsure, and read about normal delivery versus cesarean section.

  2. 02

    Active labour

Contractions become stronger and closer together as the cervix opens further. Your doctor and the labour team check you and your baby regularly and talk you through what is happening.

  3. 03

    Pushing and birth

In the second stage you push with each contraction as your baby moves down and is born. Your team guides your breathing and position.

  4. 04

    Meeting your baby

You meet your baby straight away where it is safe to do so. The placenta is delivered shortly after, and both of you are checked.

  5. 05

    Recovery in the first days

Expect tiredness, soreness and bleeding that lessens over days. Read our postpartum recovery guide.

  6. 06

    Going home

Before you leave, you are guided on feeding, newborn care and your follow-up visit. Our newborn care tips help the first weeks.

Frequently asked questions

Is normal delivery available at Chaitanya Hospital, Kadapa?

Yes. Our obstetricians perform normal and C-section deliveries, and delivery care is available 24/7. Call +91 944 103 0587 at any hour if labour begins.

Who can plan a normal delivery?

Many women with an uncomplicated pregnancy can plan a normal (vaginal) birth. Whether it is right for you depends on your health, your baby’s position and growth, and how the pregnancy has gone. Your doctor will review this with you at your check-ups and again when labour starts.

What if a normal delivery is planned but I need a C-section?

Sometimes a plan changes during labour for the safety of mother or baby. Because normal and C-section deliveries are both performed by our obstetricians, the team can move to a caesarean when it is needed.

When should I come to the hospital in labour?

Call us as soon as you think labour has started, your water has broken, you have bleeding, or your baby is moving much less than usual. Our team will guide you on when to come in. If a call is hard, come to the hospital: we are open day and night.

How do I prepare for a normal delivery?

Attend your antenatal check-ups, eat well, stay active as your doctor advises, learn the signs of labour and pack your hospital bag in advance. Our blog has a hospital bag checklist and a comparison of normal and caesarean birth.

What happens after a normal delivery?

You and your baby are checked, breastfeeding support is offered and you are guided on recovery at home. Our postnatal and newborn care speciality covers recovery, breastfeeding support and new-mother wellness.
